Evolution of Design
Is the joke of a "homeless snail" really that funny to be so persistent with? Well I've stuck with this character concept for over 3 and a half years now and I'm still not "finished" with the design. The homeless snail character is an example of my own history and how I went through many different stylistic
directions throughout college and work (notice the half-committed attempt
at R. Crumb in those early 2011 designs...eugh!)

Plankton Expression
I love doing expressions so on the movie I did multiple alternative drawings in case something worked better or was funnier. I did a lot of poses for this one Plankton expression in particular and I figured I'd show a little collage of them, as well as the final drawing.

I can finally start uploading some of my work from the new Spongebob Movie 2 (go see it in theaters!) I'm going to get around writing a post about my experience as an artist
working on the movie and what it was like learning these
characters. There are at least a thousand character layout drawings I have backed up on my hard drive but I'm obviously not going to upload them all...Here are some of my favorite shots/expressions.
