Frank Zappa studies

Some facial studies of Frank Zappa for a gift I'm making for his son, Dweezil when I see him live February 3. Hopefully I can print this shirt in time!

Face Studies

Here are some facial studies. 2 of the faces are self portraits so that I can eventually accurately caricature myself. My Armenian heritage explains the "flat" label pointing at the back of my head.

Soon I'll look back on this and think, "Man, do I look terrible in those drawings."

Elephant Studies

Here are some studies for my elephant walk cycle. It's interesting that elephants walk on their toes while the skeleton of their foot sits on a pad of fat.

More Hand Studies

I'm still working out my style (which I'll probably never settle on.) Here are some hand studies. I have recently been inspired by artists such as Milt Kahl and Mike Mignola. I've been trying to find a balance between round and sharp for my style. I love drawing spherical knuckles now.

I find that it really helps to think of drawing as sculpting with a piece of clay. By doing so you can shape it in your mind and give the drawing a soft form...Anyways, these hands will be used for more human/centaur characters such as Homeless Snail Man.
