Back from Vacation

My 2 week vacation from LA - San Diego - LA - Tokyo - Kyoto - Tokyo - NY - LA is finally over. The trip flew by very fast but it was exactly what I needed. Artistic inspiration, beautiful sight-seeing, adventures in a foreign country, and massive amounts of new foods (including the "deadly" puffer fish.)

Going across the world with a few best friends was an unforgettably great experience but I'm glad to be back at my Cintiq doing what I love...Procrastinating on a blank Photoshop file when I should be drawing environments. Well at least I have new brushes.

Frank

A little attempt at channeling some Picasso-theft into this expression. As I grow as an artist I learn to respect the greats that laid the foundation for all that I appreciate today. I need to work on my fundamentals more. It's so important!

Frank Redesign

Working on redesigning my rhino, hopefully he'll look less like "a donkey." His design is still very Disney/Dreamworks-esque and I'd rather have him look more unique. I'm still trying to break away from it. It's hard to remove that familiar, appealing style that we are bombarded with daily.

Thanksgiving

I'm back in NY for the first time in almost 5 months (which is not that long) since I first left for LA. Coming back home and unwinding has helped me remember what it is "I do." By that I mean, I remember why I became an artist. I know what I'm good at but for some reason I refuse to just do that every day till I die. Sure, it sounds healthy to break away from what's comfortable...but sometimes you're away from it for so long that you ask yourself, "Why do I do this?"

I could openly rant about my personal life for an entire book catalog but I'll just post a drawing instead. I think I'm going to start uploading pencil/sharpie drawings.

Doodles (9/10/13)

There are so many things I've drawn but either won't upload or can't but here is some of what I do on break at work or when I'm practicing at home.
